A senior in high school, he's made a name for himself as the second coming of the Detective Prince. By solving a series of cases, he's earned a place working with the Special Investigations Unit. That, combined with his charisma, good looks, and strong sense of justice, has turned him into somewhat of an idol detective adored by many.
⯌ In actuality, many of those cases were perpetrated by Akechi himself through the use of his Persona Loki. He acts as a hitman in the Metaverse, performing untraceable murders, causing people to go catatonic, and forcing psychotic episodes. All of this is done at the behest of his father, powerful politician Masayoshi Shido, in an effort to get closer to him and exact revenge for abandoning Akechi and his mother.
⯌ During the events of Persona 5, he pursues the Phantom Thieves and forms a bond with the protagonist. As part of a plan to capture and execute the protagonist, he joins up with them briefly and is given the code name Crow. After the plan fails, he attempts to exterminate them himself using his fully revealed power. He fails and is ultimately forced to face the truth of his foolishness and how his father really sees him, leading him to sacrifice himself for the party. Later, during the events of the third semester in Royal, he aids the group again while their goals are aligned.
